He’s gone from wearing silly fake mustaches and telling Justin Bieber that his dad died to starring in big Hollywood movies, getting engaged to the criminally hot Kristen Bell, and now even making features of his own.

Deadline Milford is reporting that Outrun, a movie that Shepard wrote and directed himself, has been acquired for domestic release by Open Road Pictures. This isn’t just a little project that Shepard made in his backyard either, this is a big comedy with an ensemble cast. Shepard himself stars as an ex-getaway driver who must break out of jail to drive his girlfriend to L.A. so that she can get the job of her dreams, Kristen Bell is playing the girlfriend, Tom Arnold is playing a federal agent on their tail, Bradley Cooper is playing the leader of the gang Shepard used to be a part of, and somehow names like Beau Bridges, Kristin Chenoweth and David Koechner are all involved as well.

When asked to comment on the process of making Outrun, Shepard explained, “My number-one passion after Kristen and work is motorsports — I’m interested in almost anything with an engine. This movie is like a giant cake made with my three favorite ingredients: my fiancée, my best friends and all my favorite cars. It was a six week-long birthday party!” Sounds like a pretty charmed life. It’s official: I kind of hate Dax Shepard. I guess I’m willing to give his movie a shot though; I have always liked Tom Arnold.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the horror thriller directed by Adam Wingard had its Toronto premiere Saturday night, playing before a crowd that at times pressed against the seats in suspense, tensely gripped handles, laughed, and cheered when someone bit the dust in a magnificent fashion.

But the real action took place in the lobby and outside the doors of the Ryerson Theatre, where Lionsgate executives, including chief Joe Drake, huddled on one side, while Summit's Erik Feig paced like a tiger on the other. Weinstein Co. and CBS Films execs were seen on phones, and this being at 2:30 AM, they likely weren't calling their buddies. The buyer interest in the movie wasn't just high, it bordered on salivation.

So who'll get it? Stay tuned!

A Horrible Way to Die's Adam Wingard directed the film starring Nick Tucci, Wendy Glenn, AJ Bowen, Joe Swanberg, Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz, Ti West, Calvin Reeder, Larry Fessenden, Kate Lyn Sheil, Barbara Crampton, Rob Moran, and Sharni Vinson.

In 'You're Next' the Davison family comes under attack from a terrifying group of sadistic murderers during a family reunion getaway. Barricaded in their secluded vacation home, they fight off a barrage of axes, crossbows and machetes from both inside and outside the house. However, the masked killers didn't count on Erin (Vinson), the young girlfriend of the eldest Davison son whose mysterious past has made her very difficult to kill.
